Here is your easy step-by-step tutorial on how to draw anime eyes if you are a beginner at drawing.
I am new to drawing digital art using Procreate and I love learning from different artists while at the same time, seeking my art style. If you are new to drawing, you’re just like me! So, I want to share with you what I have learned so far.

Drawing anime eyes vary depending on the character you want to create.
In this anime eyes tutorial, I will share how we can draw cute eyes for girl anime characters.
Tools I am Using
- Apple Ipad 10.2 (2020) – not the newest version but it works with Procreate and less expensive, too
- Apple Pencil 1st Gen
- Procreate App (costs around $20 but lifetime use)
Draw Cute Anime Eyes Step 1: Sketch it!
I am using HB Pencil in Procreate to draw my cute anime eye sketches.
- I start with the upper eyelids. Just two curves and they don’t need to be perfect.
- Next, I draw the anime eye shape. I added a little bit of curve on the upper left to highlight the shape of the eye.
- Next, draw the lower eyelid. These should not be too thick, especially for girl anime eyes.
- Next, add some short eyelashes.
- Then, add some eyebrows. Just thin lines above the eyes.
Draw Cute Anime Eyes Step 2: Color it!
- Before coloring, create a new layer below your sketch layer. Also, decide on what base color you’d like for your eye. I’m using blue!
- From your color wheel, choose a darker shade of your selected color and use it to color the bottom part of your cute eyes.
- Next, select white to make highlights on your drawing. Draw 2 circles on the upper left sides of the eyes- 1 big round highlight and another a little smaller below the first one.
- Select the Magic Wand on the top left part of your app. Then, choose Gaussian Blur. Adjust the slider as you prefer to make that soft color transition between your eye color shades.
