I am learning how to draw cute stuff when I stumbled on this Skillshare course by Uni Corn. I followed her and I love how I am learning how to draw cute fast food through her course.
I want to share my drawing journey here and I made it step-by-step as well so if you don’t have the premium access to Skillshare (btw, you can get a free month anyway if you sign up here), you can still draw and learn with me!
Before we start, you can download here the Sandwich Color Palette that you can use. You are free to use other colors that you like!
Here are the Easy to Follow Steps on How to Draw a Cute Sandwich
Draw Cute Sandwich Step 1: SKETCH IT!
- Draw a square. Use the HOLD PEN + TAP once on the screen to make a perfect square shape.
- Draw a half ellipse on top of the square.
- From the left corner of the ellipse touching the side of the square, draw a short line to give thickness to the bread. Draw the same short lines on the other two corners of the square.
- Connect the short lines to form the side of the bread.
- Draw another curvy line from the top of the ellipse and connect it to the straight line forming the bottom of the sandwich.
- Repeat the same process to draw the bottom bread of the sandwich.
- Erase the lines that are no longer needed.
- Draw little triangle shapes on four sides for the cheese.
- Erase the lines under the triangle shape.
- Create a new layer on top of the current one. Change the opacity of your current layer. We are going to trace our draft line art.
Draw Cute Sandwich Step 2: Fixing the Line Art
- Start tracing your lines on the new layer but make the corners of the shape rounder to make it more kawaii-looking. “Kawaii” means cute 🙂 You can also start filling in your shapes with color. Watch my short video below tracing and adjusting my line art.
Draw Cute Sandwich Step 3: Color it!
- Create a separate layer on top of your current layer.
- Set the layer to Clipping Mask.
- Select a Soft Brush under the Default Airbrushing brushes. Then, choose the color on the palette that says “Shadow.” Start coloring the bottom side of the drawing with the Shadow color.
- Then, select the layer again and choose opacity by clicking on the “N” letter on the side of the layer name. Adjust the opacity to lighten the shadow.
- Select the “Bun & Highlight” color on the palette and add some highlights on the cheese. You may also use a Black color to add the face of the cute sandwich. Draw 2 black round and add some white round inside it to form the eyes. Then, add a curve for the mouth.
- Choose the color for the “Cheese” and add some dots on your bread for some added details. Use the “Cheeks” color on the palette and add ovals under the eyes. Then, select the “Cheek details” color on the palette for some blushes on the cheeks.
- Lastly, you can change your background color with anything you like!
